[How the heck was she supposed to convince Hunter of something that hadn't even happened to him yet? More importantly, something that questioned his entire state of being]?
The thing is, I know its wrong, and anyone who was looking at this outside would know it, but they were basically raised in a bubble, so they have no idea its wrong at all. In fact, what they were taught was wrong is actually good.
But THEY don't think it is.
So you're an anomaly?
[Luz was a little skeptical. Why would he lie? WOULD he lie]?
[Wow. Her friend sounds all mixed up and Luca has no idea what would help at all. Maybe it would help if he knew what the thing was, but he's too busy focusing on the other part of what she said. He's an anomaly? Sure, he'll go with that.]
Yep. Mm-hmm. I'm an anomaly. The only normal person brought into this world. Just a fluke. No need to worry about it or focus on it at all.
So this friend of yours, what was the lie anyway? Maybe I'll be able to think of a solution if I have a bit more information.
[It was a complicated situation and Luz knew darn well that no one should really know about it until Hunter did. He would have to be the first person to know, because this was about him in the first place].
You saying it like that sounds very suspicious.
Hmm. Give me a second.
Ok, let's say that before you came here, you were told people from Kaisou were these evil, corrupt people who used magic to hurt others, and they kept telling you this so much that when you got here, you'd see anyone who had magic as bad, or conniving. They'd blame every bad thing on them, so much that you wouldn't even think twice about it.
What do you think would force you to think differently about them?
I don't know why. There's definitely nothing suspicious about anything I'm saying.
[It's very suspicious. Then she says the other part and...it's so much like what he himself went through with humans. He carefully thinks and tries to figure out how to say this without sounding like anything but a hypothetical.]
Well...if that happened with me...I'd probably be scared at first. I'd pretend to be one of the people of Kaisou and panic whenever anything happened that might expose me. I'd probably be less scared of them the more time I spent around them, and in the end I'd just need time and to keep seeing that they're not doing anything to me when they see what I really am. I'm sure that's how it is for him.
[That still sounded fake to her but she'd let that slide for right now].
For him it's very different, Luca. For him, he always feels like he's got something to prove, and because of that, he'll believe whatever he has to whole heartedly, even if it makes him different. The problem is that it's all predicated on a lie, and he has no idea.
No, he'll get to know people here, he's pretty much in an unfamiliar world, so he has to.
But if you ask him about things pertaining to the Boiling Isles and magic, you'll find him hard to budge on the things he considers true. Which is silly, since this world's version of magic is bound to be different from the one he knows at home.
The other problem is that even if I told him, he might not believe me. He still kinda sees me as "the human" or "the criminal" instead of his friend.
[Their history was a bit complicated]!
That was just an example! In reality, he knows quite a lot about magic. Enough that it might be a bad thing for him in our world, shown to the wrong person].
Oh, right. Is there anyone else here from your world?
And maybe it'll work no matter what the thing is. Like...if he just doesn't like humans, he'll see that humans aren't evil if he keeps seeing it over time, or anything else, as long as he keeps seeing it again and again.
See, that's where things get really weird. More than what I was just telling you!
There's someone here who's like a mom to me where I just came from: a crazy, unpredictable mom, but still great and cares a lot about me. She's here, only she doesn't quite look the same, and she doesn't remember me at all. And there's another person like that who's ALSO from that world, and it's the same thing: they don't remember their world at all, it's like they've always been here! From what I hear, I'm not the only one that's had that happen either!
He knows humans aren't evil, or at least, he knows I'm not, but he ALSO knows I'm working against his uncle, so it's easier for him to think of me as an "other:" human, criminal.
It's a lot. Just be glad your friend is here and he remembers you!
[Nothing far too complicated there].
It will, especially with what I know about him. The worse thing is that I want to help him, but he's from an earlier time so he doesn't even know how much more I know about things. If I tried to tell him, he'd just think I was lying to him.
Yeah. But maybe you could work on winning his trust first? Before bringing up anything? I mean, I know you're opposing his uncle so that'll be hard, but his uncle isn't here, right? You're both just trying to get back home here.

I just have to figure out how I'm going to do it. Some secrets being known can really mess with a person, depending on what they are.

Yeah...but it'll probably help him knowing the truth. Even if it's hard at first.

Yeah, I'm thinking that. It's just...a very, VERY hard thing I don't know how to make them accept.

Like...hey, these people aren't using their magic for evil, and then those people aren't, and gradually build up to it?
